Modification
There are 11 various things I modified within the game instead of just 3 such as:
1. I changed the Title from Super Space-stronaut 64 to Gamalactic-14 Crystal Crusade.
2. From the Main Menu you can see that I added a working Credit Section and a total of 2 Levels that all connect to their corresponding Levels. Even though there are only 2 levels, you will notice that the second level is a lot more in depth and shows off the various modifications I have made.
3. The background on the MainMenu Screen is updated and has different little space assets such as the crystal goal, a key card, a checkpoint station etc to add flavour to the MainMenu. The MainMenu music is also changed from the original music.
4. When you go into the first level you sill see that there are more platforms and it is pretty simplified to give the player a tutorial type feel. The music is not the same music that the project template gave us to follow.
5. The area that you can move around in is a tad different, there are more obstacles to pass through to get the initial key. I also added in extra pickups, as well as changed the colours of the enemies overall. I wanted to keep the first level similar as it was the tutorial to show that I understood the concepts being taught, but I made several changes
4. The Levels that proceeds the initial 1st level is completely different and much larger the more you progress and have to kill more enemies, go through more obstacles and unlock more doors and get to each checkpoint.
5. I added several different enemy types to the game, changed some to be unmoving static enemies, floating enemies.
6. I added lots of waypoints for moving platforms and reduced the size of some platforms so that it would be challenging.
7. As you progress through Level 2, you will notice that there are 3 different biomes to go through, Astro, Cave and Robot. In each area I made sure to have a different feel, for example using more white toned and bright colours in the Astro area, bigger platforms that feel more safe. I made the caves seem more underground and dark, with crystals and stalactites/stalagmites, a tunnel, and a cave ramp. In the Robot area I wanted to add a more intense feel, so the smaller platforms and jump pads made it easy to achieve that outcome.
8. I created an additional blue stone pick up that is worth 5 points, changed the key colours, changed some jump pad colours and platform colours per area, Changed the checkpoint colour, changed some of the robot light colours, changed the colour of the astronaut that you play as, and changed the overall colour of the goal pick up.
9. I implemented some of my own game mechanics such as the electricity on the floors in the Robot biome by learning to create an electric current with the Particle System and then editing it to look more like a long current. If you were to touch the floor in this area, you will die on collision.
10. I changed all the music for each level as well using copyright free songs from the Unity Asset Store
11. Some of the shooter enemies are stagnant, I changed their behaviour so they wouldn't move. One this is if I increased the range in the last room of their firing, it would be too hard to move between the platforms and you'd have shooter enemies from below. I had someone playtest to confirm that. Needed to make sure that the game was playable for most ages.
